On October 4th, Downtown Fort Smith transforms into a living-history playground for one day only—imagine cavalry rides, cannon blasts, wandering reenactors, free museum access at various locations, and a complimentary trolley loop (10 AM–4 PM) so you can park once and explore with the kids.
This is the city's largest history-themed event, brought together by the Fort Smith National Historic Site, local museums, and community partners. You can look forward to interactive demonstrations, live music, food trucks, and a vendor market with the classic energy of a fall festival. Food trucks are gathered on 3rd St between Garrison & Rogers—perfect for a quick lunch. Take advantage of the free trolley and historic streetcar rides from 10 AM–4 PM; watch for the orange stop signs. Be sure to download or screenshot the city’s festival map for parking and stops before you set out.
