The Hearst Foundations have announced two emergency grants of $500,000 each to support relief efforts in the wake of devastating flooding in Texas. The grants will be directed to the Community Foundation of the Texas Hill Country for the Kerr County Flood Relief Fund and to The Salvation Army in support of the ongoing relief work in the region.

The catastrophic floods have caused widespread damage in Kerr County and surrounding areas, taking lives, displacing families, destroying homes and devastating local infrastructure. The Hearst Foundations’ contributions are designed to provide immediate relief to those affected, as well as to support long-term recovery efforts in the region.

In a joint statement, the Hearst Foundations’ Co-Executive Directors Paul "Dino" Dinovitz and Donna Kalajian Lagani stated: “The recent flooding has left countless families in the Texas Hill Country in urgent need of support. These grants represent our commitment to helping communities in crisis. We are proud to partner with local organizations like the Community Foundation of the Texas Hill Country and The Salvation Army to ensure that essential aid and resources are delivered to those who need it most."

The Community Foundation of the Texas Hill Country will use its grant to assist flood victims in Kerr County with temporary housing, food, medical supplies and long-term recovery initiatives, including rebuilding efforts. The Salvation Army, with its long-standing presence in disaster recovery, will provide emergency shelter, meals and spiritual support to affected residents.

In addition to disaster relief, Hearst Foundations’ funding supports organizations that create sustainable employment and productive career paths for adults; improve health and quality of life; increase academic achievement through access to high-quality educational options; promote the arts and sciences as a cornerstone of society; and enhance family stability and self-sufficiency.

Hearst maintains a long-standing and growing footprint in Texas, anchored by historical ties and reinforced by Hearst Foundations’ meaningful support for Texas communities.
