Get ready to satisfy your sweet tooth and feed your creativity! The Momentary has announced an exciting new culinary experience, Pastry Week, happening December 3–6, 2025. This week-long celebration of all things pastry will feature hands-on workshops, film screenings, tastings, and engaging conversations with renowned chefs and local artisans.
A Week of Workshops and Whimsy
The Momentary Pastry Week invites both experienced bakers and enthusiastic beginners to roll up their sleeves for a variety of hands-on workshops.
Chef Caroline Schiff, known for her imaginative flavor pairings and whimsical desserts, will lead both a Cookie Workshop and a Crostata Workshop.
Chef Stacey Mei Yan Fong is returning to the Momentary for her second appearance, will share her expertise in creating the perfect pie during a Pie Making Workshop.
Local favorites Markham & Fitz Chocolatiers will host a Chocolate & Wine Pairing Workshop, exploring how single-origin cacao and fine wines can complement one another in delicious harmony.
More Than Baking: A Celebration of Pastry Culture
In addition to workshops, visitors can explore The Baker’s Market, a curated pop-up featuring goods from local independent bakers. For a little friendly competition, bakers can show off their skills in The Pastry Week Panel and Cookie Contest, judged by a panel of experts.
The Momentary will also host free film screenings that spotlight pastry and culinary creativity, including Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, Waitress, and Marie Antoinette, all taking place in the Fermentation Hall.
A Sweet Finale: The Chef Dinner
The festivities culminate on Saturday, December 6, with a special Pastry-Focused Chef Dinner hosted by the Crystal Bridges culinary team. This multi-course dining experience will celebrate the art and craft of pastry, showcasing both sweet and savory creations that highlight innovation and flavor.
A Taste of Art and Community
“Pastry Week marks an exciting expansion of the Momentary’s culinary programming, offering a thoughtfully curated celebration of pastry that reflects our commitment to exploring food as a form of expression,” said Sam Lott, associate director of food programs at the Momentary. “We’re continuing to show how food connects people while spotlighting the creativity and craft behind pastry arts.”
